Description
The proposed new extension will be situated on the vacant plot adjacent (north end) to the Old Sail Loft, to create storage rooms on ground and first floor and a reception room for private use, on the second floor. The proposed private space will be adjoining to the residential part of the property and will be designated for family use only. The proposal also includes 2 new openings in the north gable on first and second floor, accessing new store rooms for art equipment and supplies, with the purpose to free up circulation space in the main building for art and printmaking workshops. The first floor will be accessed via a staircase within the new extension, thus reducing the number of new openings required from the existing building. The historical features of the previous building located in the space north of the building (See attached Heritage Impact Statement) can be incorporated in to the proposed extension's exterior design, such as a rendered façade, a pitched, slate roof and small sash windows on the first floor, enhancing the building visually, therefore improving the overall look of the street.
