The area is a former children's play area. The scheme forms part of Carmarthenshire County Council's asset transfer programme. The play equipment has been removed from this area many years ago. Llanelli Rural Council has undertaken to provide and maintain a community play facility, fitness area and enclosed ball court. The vision for Penygraig is to revive the current open space and former playground into a vibrant amenity for all ages and abilities, enabling all that visit, adults and children alike, to play, socialise and get active
