Application Details
Description
Oak, rear garden (see Survey) Unstable dead wood over 25mm in diameter and broken branch removed from the crown of the tree. Epicormic growth to the stem also to be removed to a height of approximately 6m. Crown reduction is undertaken as a means of reducing the height of the tree with the aim of lowering the amount of force which will be placed upon the stem base and roots during periods of high wind. The overall extent of the crown reduction must be kept to the minimum in order to main good physiological function and should be viewed as the starting point for a series of slight crown reductions designed to gradually shorten the tree whilst encouraging the formation of a smaller and more compact crown. The extent of the proposed crown reduction is illustrated in Photograph 1 and will equate to a height reduction of approximately 2m. This work should be undertaken before the autumn of 2025.
