Description

T1 - Marsh Cypress - 10% crown reduction in rear garden. My landscaping contractor told me in January 2015 that CCC had consented to the removal of this tree and grinding out its stump. He told me that a CCC conservation officer with responsibility for archaeology had also visited the site, and had no objection to this proposal.Having obtained further expert advice, from a local tree specialist, I decided it would be far preferable to retain the tree. However, this would be possible only if I could obtain consent for a 10% crown reduction each year, to ensure no further increase in its spread and the extent of its root growth. This was necessary to meet insurance requirements, the tree being close to the long boundary wall, the river embankment, and the dwelling itself, all of which are listed Grade II. The crown reduction having been approved in advance on each occasion to date, the work has been carried out January/February every year. The tree has continued to grow vigorously, is well-shaped, and remains suitable in size for its environment.I now seek consent for a 10% crown reduction, to be carried out by the same local specialist. The work proposed would be done during January or February 2024, when the tree will have shed its foliage and become dormant.
