Description
I would like to crown lift one mature Beech tree and one mature Sycamore tree by up to 3m, removing several of the lowest branches (but no more than four or five branches on each tree). The trees are located beside the ditch that separates St John's College from neighboring Trinity College, and flank the site of a temporary footbridge that is set to be constructed across the ditch in late February 2024 as part of the route for the 2024 Cambridge Half-Marathon. I have been advised that the lower branches would likely impede the construction process and potentially be dangerously close to the runners as they pass underneath. The trees are identified as T110 and T111 on the most recent survey conducted of all the College's trees in September 2022. I can supply a map detailing their location and photographs of both trees. I met with the organizer of the half-marathon and City Council tree officer Kenny McGregor on Tuesday 14th November to discuss the proposed works.
