Description

1 Lawson Cyprus 2 Lawson Cyprus 3 Norwegian spruce 4 Irish yew 5 Irish yew 6 A group of Norwegian spruces Number 1 - The trunk is 2 metres from a corner of the house. Number 2 - The trunk is 5 metres from the west wall of the house. Unfortunately for the sake of the house it looks as if both 1 and 2 should be removed completely. Number 3 was a Christmas tree which we had in the house about 50 years ago and because it still had some roots, it is a big tree now and very close to the house. I think that if we are permitted to remove 1 and 2, we would do those firstand reassess 3 afterwards. Numbers 4 and 5 - Yew trees which used to be kept trimmed to a height of about 2.4 metres but haven't been touched for 9 or 10 years. It would be good to return them to their former height of about 2.4 metres to let some light into the house and trim the sides so that we can walk around them. I also think this would help them to thicken up again. Number 6 - Group of Norwegian spruce, they are now 10 - 15 metres tall and completely block out any light to the fruit trees which remain in this patch. Group 6 contains about 40 trees. We don't want to remove all of them as there are some fine specimens and they are rather wonderful in their own right but we would like to remove a carefully selected few. Some which are just too close to others and a few to let more light in to the fruit trees. I think about 15% will do. 6 or 7 trees.
