Description

(The tree and driveway damage was inspected in person by Mr Gavin Boyes in summer 2022 - see previous email from me to Mr Boyes 19/6/22).There is a very large pine tree with TPO in the next door neighbours front garden bordering the pavement (No 10 College Road) - this is immediately to the left of my driveway entrance. The large roots are lifting and destroying my driveway (8 College Road) at the point of entrance. It is now difficult to get in and out of the drive and results in an unsafe reversing route onto the road in order to get around the lifted tarmac. I wish to excavate this section of the drive at No.8, lowering it to its original position, levelling and resurfacing the area to make it fit for purpose once again. This will necessitate cutting and removing the offending tree roots up to the edge of my driveway. It is not viable to raise the drive over the roots as the roots already lie at the level the driveway surface should be. Raising it further would make the angle of approach too steep; the cost of raising the rest of the driveway would be too great; and the driveway repair would be quickly re-damaged by roots anyway. Mr Boyes requested last year that I excavate a small section to establish the size of the roots and the depth. He subsequently inspected this in person but I have attached a photo showing how the roots measuring up to 6inch in diameter lie very close to the driveway surface in its lifted position - they already lie at the level the driveway surface needs to be.
