Application Details
Description
Name: T1, T2 and T3 Limes There are three large lime trees (two in particular T1 and T2) growing very close together (i.e., merged) and growing very close to the rear of the property 6 Nunnery Place, The three trees have not been subject to any form of maintenance work for perhaps 8 years or more, and are now significantly encroaching on this property, denying the owners both light and space (Figs 3 a and b). The trees are also beginning to touch the property directly, presenting a structural threat from falling branches and the likelihood of roof and drainage (gutters) function being compromised. To address the problems above, and under the advice of a professional arborist wish to have the lime trees reduced and trimmed back in a sympathetic way that also protects the wellbeing of the trees and their aesthetic value. The three lime trees are so close to the cottages and are now very tall for their situation, approaching 30m (see Fig 4), and following inspection and advice we seek permission to carry out a whole crown reduction by 30 percent (by approximately 8 meters) to the height of the nearby woodland canopy (Fig 4b), to provide sufficient clearance to property. We also need permission to 'crown-lift' the lower branches up to around a meter above the guttering height to allow more light into the cottages and to prevent the branches from projecting over and into the nearby property's garden and potentially contacting the cottage causing damage.
