Description
T1 - Fagus sylvatica, Beech. Stage 3 retrenchment pruning. approx 1.5m - 2m crown reduction. Although tree has responded very well to the first 2 stages of retrenchment pruning the large cavity on the main trunk is still a big concern. stress fracture formation and sap bleeding through bark continues to advance on opposing side to cavity. tap test indicates large area of inactive cambium. reduce crown to lessen wind loading and crown mass above weakened stem. T2, T3, T4, T5, accer pseudoplatanus, Sycamore. Pollard to approx. 10m All trees are weighted towards and within striking distance of new walled garden construction. T2 and T3 have cavities at base. T3 and T4 are beginning to show signs of decline. pollard to approx 10m and reduce retaining lower growth. T6, T7, - accer pseudoplatanus, Sycamore. Pollard to approx 8-10m. All trees have cavities at base. pollard to appropriate pollard points to reduce the risk of stem failure. T8, T9, T10 - accer pseudoplatanus, Sycamore. 2-3m crown reductions cavities at base. T10 has raised root plate on south side with damaged radial root exposed.
