Description

T1 Horse Chestnut - Crown reduce areas of the tree's crown by up to 4 metres. Target prune back to suitable growth points. Two images are provided at Appendix 6 which helps to show how the tree's crown should be reduced. Emphasis is placed on reducing the tree's crown over the road (east side) to remove the weight from the tree's main limbs extending in this direction (up to 4 metres) and reducing the top of the crown, but perhaps less so than over the road (<4 metres) with a view to maintaining an overall balanced crown whilst avoiding the removal of excessive material. We consider, the growth over the field side (west side) needs little if any crown reduction works. The north and east sides, lower 2 or 3 branches should be reduced back approximately 2 metres (estimated maximum) with a view to helping balance the crown following completion of both the east side and top areas of the crown reduction works. Minor crown lift over highway - target prune up to a a maximum of 1 metre from lower branch growth. Works marked on the photos in appendix 6 of the attached arb report.
