Description
Oak tree, fell to ground levelThe tree appears to have soil level changes around the base of the tree with a higher level to the North side, including a raised area around the buttresses. This is likely due when they built the houses within this area. The tree is mature and was shown to have various historic tree management carried out in form of a crown reduction including the historic removal of various branches on the stems. Height: 20mSpread: 16mDBH: 107cmObservations: Major basal decay to the South side leading up to 6.5m above ground level. Honey Fungus Armillaria was found within the areas of the underside of the loose bark Slight hollow sound when tapped to that area, very little rooting to the South side ground level when poked with a prodding tool. But good reaction wood to the North side at ground level. Ivy clad trunk. Epicormic growth on stems. Codominant stems at 2.5m above ground level with moderate inclusion. Multiple pruning wounds on stems. Major deadwood in canopy over 100mm. Crown was showing signs of thinning mainly to the South stem. Given the location of the tree, including the heath and condition based on the findings above which have concluded is a fruiting body Honey fungus has appeared to reduce the stability to the South side of the canopy.
