Application Details
Description
T1-Pair of Horse Chestnut-Historically, both trees have been drastically pruned in the past to reduce their height to circa 4m above ground level (see Photo 1). The stumps have developed re-growth over the years but, as is typical of this species, there is decay developing at the previous pruning points. The trees have recently been pruned to the prior pruning points, merely to remove the new growth. They are now considered, by the owner, unsightly and they wish to remove the stumps and replace them with two new specimen trees on either side. It would be more fitting to the rural nature of the village to have trees of natural form rather than these historically 'hacked' stumps. If, as the trees are protected by virtue of being located within a Conservation Area, security of the replacement planting is required, the owners would be willing to plant the replacements in advance of removal of the two stumps. Action: Remove.
