Description
We have a large willow tree in our garden. Over the last few years we have had tree surgeons out to check on the health of the tree because, year on year, the growth has diminished. In addition, the percentage of dead branches has increased (especially on the south-facing side of the tree) where almost all of the south-facing side of the tree shows no growth at all; appearing dead. It has also been noted at the most recent tree surgeon review (July 2025) that there are 4 holes in the main trunks / branches (woodpeckers) indicating these trunks are hollow. So as to preserve the tree as best as is possible, Bucks Tree Surgeons have recommended the tree has a pollard (back to previous points). Without this, they think losing the tree is a relatively high possibility. The willow is located close to a brick-built carport and there are concerns that, if left, the tree may cause damage if it dies and falls.
