Description
DiscussionOpinion and recommendations in this report are made on the understanding that QuestGates has identified clay shrinkage subsidence as a cause of building movement and damage.Site investigations and soil test results have confirmed a plastic clay subsoil susceptible to undergoing volumetric change in relation to changes in soil moisture.Roots were observed below foundation depth in TP/BH1, BH2, TP/BH3, TP/BH4 and TP/BH5 and recovered samples have been identified as Prunus spp., either Carpinus spp., Aesculus spp. or Acer spp. [poor sample], Pomoideae gp., either Pomoideae gp. or Prunus spp., Salicaceae spp., either Pinus spp. or Cedrus spp. and Leguminosae spp.The majority of the tested samples were found to be very decayed and lacking starch, suggesting them to be dead at the time of retrieval or from previously removed vegetation. However, in part, samples do correspond with vegetation found on site.Current Claim - Tree Details & RecommendationsT2 Weeping Willow- Remove (fell) to near ground level and treat stump to inhibit regrowth.T4 Goat Willow- Remove (fell) to near ground level and treat stump to inhibit regrowth.TG1 Plum group- Remove (fell) to near ground level and treat stump to inhibit regrowth.SG1 Mixed spp. shrub group of mostly Choisya, Pyracantha, Dogwood and Ivy- Remove (fell) Pyracantha and all Ivy within 6.0m to near ground level and treat stumps to inhibit regrowth.
