Description
Removal of hedge of closely planted leylandii trees approximately 2.4m in height and 31m in length. This hedge along with a post and rail fence currently marks the Drayton Road side boundary of our Parish Council Burial Ground. This is essential to allow us to extend the burial ground by approximately 8m onto land which is also owned by the Parish Council, providing additional capacity as the existing area is unlikely to last for more than another two to three years. The leylandii trees are not subject to a TPO. See report commissioned from Buckinghshire Council Heritage Team Heritage Advice Ref: 25/00012/LB3. They have said "Consent from the Local Authority is required for the felling of any trees of a certain maturity in a CA. However, it remains unclear as to whether this includes hedges, and whether removing the these will require permission at all. This is something that may have to be clarified by planning officers and thecouncil?s arboriculturists" and "In order to preserve the character of this key part of the CA, the heritage team?s advice would be to retain some form of hedges ? perhaps a species that is easier to maintain ? along the boundaries of the cemetery as the existing hedges make a strong contribution to the sense of greenery, help to soften boundaries, and effectively channel views along the road in this important area."The Parish Council intends planting a replacement hedge and new fence along the new boundary.
