Description
Labelled ProposalsT1 Apple Tree, 10ft, Remove two of six boughs at nearest growth point, 20% thinning of canopyT2 Ash, 50ft, Remove two of six boughs at nearest growth point, 10% crown thinning of canopyReasons for actions44 High Street South has a small private back garden which is behind the property and T1 and 2 are all out of public sight. The garden is approximately 50ft by 20ft yet has multiple trees over 50ft across the South-West border. As a result, the garden receives limited sunlight: the lawn is reduced to moss, and there is very little plant growth. Other vegetation, including the notable apple tree T1, grows with difficulty and at bent angles. The proposed works reduce two trees in the Stewkley conservation area, however it is noted that:? None of T1 or T2 are visible from the village or to any passersby, they are all obscured from view behind the house. The trees therefore have minimal amenity value and do not add to the character or appearance of the conservation area. I do not believe that the works would negatively impact the amenity value of the area ? instead they would greatly improve the use of the garden? The small garden space is overwhelmed by multiple large trees, blocking all daylight from what could be a flourishing, bright garden, with opportunity for other plant life? T2 has multiple crossed stems, has grown across the border into 46 High Street South and 5 Lovetts End to such a severe extent that fence panels have been removed. Request to remove two of the six major boughs at nearest growth points and reduce crown by 20% to allow for better growth of remaining boughs and retain tree whilst limiting damage and allowing for more light
