Description

There have been flooding problems in the car park to the front of our property (over which we have a right of way) over the last 2-3 years. The problem was particularly bad during the heavy rains of the latter half of 2024, and the car park became completely water logged, with the centre over one foot deep in water. Investigation revealed that a storm drain at the centre of the car park was completely blocked by tree roots. The roots had grown along the pipe all the way from the storm drain and into the sewer. We managed to clear the blockage but the roots will grow back, cause future flooding and in time, seriously damage the sewer pipes. The willow tree is 9-10m away from the drain pipes and so it presents a severe risk to the sewers. Our own house (Porte Bonheur) is 13-14m away from the tree and so its foundations are at risk too. Please could we remove this willow tree so that it doesn't cause problems in the future and replace it with another species that won't cause such problems (we'll take advice on a suitable alternative).
