Description
Bellgate pond is located approximately 250m from arch road (https://w3w.co/motion.enchanted.opts). It is a stagnant pond which has little life and is shaded by a number of trees (x1 apple, x3 field maple and x2 ash) and some newly planted hedge species. After seeking advice, the recommendation has been to remove the field maple and apple which are leaning over the pond on the south side, to reduce the input of leaf litter and fruit which would alter the nutrient levels and silt up the pond. In addition, this will let light into part of the pond which should help marginal plants to establish. Some logs from these works will be left in the pond to serve as habitat.T1) Malus (Apple) - Dismantle and fell to ground. Chip material onto path.T2) Acer campestre (Field Maple) - Dismantle and fell to ground. Chip material onto path.
