Description
The TPO specifies "T1Yew" and "T2Yew". It is unclear which yew is which. I am referring throughout to "Tree1" and "Tree2" as marked on my plan supplied (OldVicarage_plan).Tree 1 is growing close to and inside the wall of the Old Vicarage garden and overhangs the storage sheds of the village hall immediately to the south on the other side of the wall. In autumn and winter many yew berries fall into the lobby giving access to the sheds (in use for almost every booking, as this is where tables and chairs are kept), presenting a serious slip hazard to members of the public. Tree surgeons Roderick Wilson recommend cutting away from the building leaving a clearance of 1.5-2.0 metres, and cutting back the lateral growth over the hall by 1-2 metres. The tree has more growth on the village hall side than on the north side so this pruning would not unbalance the tree. Photos are provided from three directions (Tree1_from east/north/west) and also from the lobby looking straight up into the tree (Tree1_hall lobby).Tree 2 on the map is growing in the central portion of the drive of the Old Vicarage and has a large limb which divides into two, both over the drive. Tree2_marked_general_NE shows the limb in relation to the main tree. (Please note, the background of this photo shows Tree 1). The limb has become top-heavy and the tree surgeons advise cutting back both extensions of this limb by 45%, approximately 4-5 metres off, to avoid the risk of breaking and to encourage new growth vertically. The cut would be made just beyond an existing vertical shoot which can be seen in the photo provided (Tree2_marked).
