Description
Following the recent storm, with wind speeds exceeding 50 mph at Stowe, a post-storm inspection flagged several trees which were damaged and now pose a safety risk. I am therefore seeking consent to reduce or fell the following trees, to ensure that they are made safe. Tree nos. 04612 and 04614 Limes - Oxford Gate. A large stem has fallen out of one of these trees so there is now a risk of the remaining tree failing towards the entrance road and bridleway. Both trees have very large Ganoderma brackets and would benefit from being reduced to pollards. Tree no. 4049 Beech - Arch Road. A large limb has fallen, exposing an extremely hollow stem. The remaining stem is now at risk of falling towards a working yard. We would like consent to fell this tree and leave the deadwood for habitat.Tree nos. 00406 and 04210 Limes - Dido's wood. Both these trees have hanging branches but on further inspection also extensive stem decay. We would like to reduce these to 4 metre pollards to reduce the risk to path users. There is also a large pine next to St Mary's Church which came down in the high winds. This has damaged a yew tree so will be sensitively pruned in the clear-up.
