Application Details
Description
A Large veteran Oak tree 18-20m in height located on the track to the driving range from the main Golf course car park. One side of the forked main stem has a large open cavity with a second open hole in the opposite side of the stem. On the side with the smaller hole are several open cracks running up from these cavities and the tree has the potential to fail onto the track used by the visitors below. I suspect the stem with the cavities is also hollowing up and down from the open areas as well as having the cracks, so could be a potential bat roost which we are employing an ecologist to survey. We seek permission to remove the stem with the issues to below the cavitied area which is around half of the canopy and then reduce the other side of the remaining canopy to 50% in height to reduce stresses from the new level of exposure and to hopefully create a pollard into the future.
